Débora Sofia Gouveia Henriques is conducting a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Landscape Management by the University of the Azores, starting in October 2012 within the Azorean Biodiversity Group of cE3c. She is conducting the project “Bryophyte diversity across altitudinal gradients in the Azores: looking for signs of climate change in the functional hyperspace”, under the supervision of Prof. Doutora Rosalina Gabriel and Prof. Doutor Paulo Borges.
Débora’s Ph.D. project aims are:
- To assess bryophyte diversity along altitudinal gradients both at the species and functional group levels in Terceira island;
- To study the resulting patterns and correlate them with several environmental factors, assessing their role in maintaining bryophyte alpha and functional diversity;
- To compare results between different scales (plot, transect and islands) and use them to predict plausible impacts of future climate change scenarios in the islands bryoflora.
