My research focuses on the study of the Biodiversity of Azorean Bryophytes, at two different levels: conservation and taxonomy. As far as conservation goes, I am interested in the degree of threat of different conservation concern species and, using standardized community studies of different Azorean native forests, I indicate the best scales for the conservation of bryophytes and the delimitation of reserved areas for the protection of these species. Taxonomically I have been working in the analysis and identification of different bryophytes, coming from different collections, mostly working in groups in need of a taxonomical revision (eg. Fissidens genus). I have also been involved in the production of pictures to place in the Azorean Biodiversity Portal.
